SILVIA Colloca’s daughter Luna won’t be scared off eating strawberries and that’s just how her celebrity chef mother likes it.

The gorgeous youngest child of Rake star Richard Roxburgh and his food author wife could not get enough of the spring bounty – despite this week coming under attack from fruit saboteurs.

Before the food tampering plunged the industry and growers into crisis – with supermarkets ordering them off shelves and tonnes of the fruit destroyed – Colloca had been feeding her family up on the luscious berries, when they were ripe and in abundance in stores.

“Only last week I had been saying how amazing the strawberries had been this early in season, before these idiots starting putting needles in them … it’s just heartbreaking,” Collocoa told News Corp Australia.

The Love, Laugh, Bake! author has shared a recipe for her strawberry and almond cake, as part of a campaign by celebrity chefs and food stars to encourage the public to keep buying the fruit and supporting our beleaguered farmers.

“It’s not just devastating because of the financial loss and the food waste, but this is someone’s livelihood and the crops were so good. I know they must have put so much love into them to taste as amazing as they do,” she said.

Food stylist, author and magazine editor Donna Hay has donated her delicious strawberry ripple yoghurt cake recipe.

Seven’s My Kitchen Rules judge Colin Fassnidge took a break from filming season 10 of the top-rating series to answer the call for help – furious at the devastation such “stupidity had caused” farmers already hit by the effects of the drought.

“It’s a f****ing disgrace,” the Irish-born chef said.

“We’re being held to ransom by these idiots and I’m not having it.

“They’re doing it to apples and bananas, so what are we going to do now? Be told what we can and can’t eat,” he raged.

The restauranter has put a special strawberries and cream dessert on the menus of two of his eateries: The Terminus in Pyrmont and The Banksia in Rockdale.

An OzHarvest and RUOK Day ambassador, Fassnidge warned the impact would go beyond financial and stock losses but start to do psychological damage in farming communities.

“Supermarkets need to set up slicing stations in store and people need to keep buying them,” he said.

“You can make jam, pickle them, freeze them, cook them in cakes, whatever … just keep buying them.”

Ten’s MasterChef judge Matt Preston has also lent his support sharing a recipe for strawberry jam.

“Aussie strawberry growers need our support and the best way we can do that is by still enjoying locally grown strawberriesies in recipes like these!!! #letsmakejam”

MasterChef 2018 winner Sashi Cheliah’s pancake recipe promises a delicious breakfast for the whole family.
